The new owners of this large detached home on the outskirts of Lewes commissioned Mathew Crawford Architects to explore various opportunities to extend the property. The owners were keen to take advantage of the expansive views over the River Ouse to the front and beautifully manicured gardens to the rear.
Following a variety of option study’s the eventual design realised a 2 storey rear and side extension. On the ground floor, a new open plan double height kitchen / diner space with large windows for taking in the views. On the first floor, a new master suite with ensuite, dressing room and doors opening on to the upper lawn of the rear garden.
The extension was fully clad in timber cladding, allowed to silver over time to blend in with the rural location.
