The new owners of this spacious detached home on the outskirts of Lewes approached us to explore options for extending the property. Eager to make the most of the expansive views over the River Ouse at the front and the beautifully landscaped gardens at the rear, they sought a design that embraced the home’s unique setting.

Following an extensive options study, the final scheme comprised a two-storey extension to the rear and side of the house. On the ground floor, a striking open-plan, double-height kitchen and dining area was created, with large picture windows framing the surrounding landscape. Upstairs, a new master suite was introduced, complete with an en-suite bathroom, dressing room, and direct access to the upper lawn of the rear garden.

The extension was clad entirely in timber, designed to weather naturally to a soft silver, allowing it to blend harmoniously into the rural surroundings.
