Yew Tree Way | The Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Overview

Yew Tree Way is located in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the outskirts of Stroud, Gloucestershire. Our clients acquired the property and wanted to take advantage of the surrounding natural beauty. Mathew Crawford Architects were commissioned to design a new garden retreat which the professional couple could use as an office. The space also doubles up as a guest bedroom. The garden room was fully insulated to provide a comfortable environment throughout the year.

Appearance

Natural materials were used on the exterior of the structure in response to the semi-rural location. The garden room was wrapped on all sides with larch cladding with a ‘shadow gap’ profile. An overhanging roof, providing shade in the summer month was finished with a sedum ‘green roof’. An adjacent wood store was clad in the same larch cladding as was a hidden door. A water butt was positioned to the rear to collect rainwater for use in the garden
